An important change to the inside structure was the development of a fulltime office administrator position to improve member support and efficiency of all programs. With 1,000 members this year, a new and improved website and a more efficient and professional office staff, MMTA continues to thrive in service of Minnesota's music teachers and students. South Dakota MTA co-sponsored an exciting new event in Sioux Falls in September. More than 20 voice and piano professionals from seven regional colleges and universities performed fully-staged opera scenes in a program titled Mozart & More, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the composer's birth. The first act was comprised of scenes from four of Mozart's most famous operas. The second act presented selected scenes from English-language operas by American and British composers. The concert was a unique collegial col·le·gi·al adj. 1. a. It also provided an important step in developing broader support for opera in South Dakota and for exploring the possibility of establishing a regional opera company in Sioux Falls. Marianne F.
