North Dakota MTA celebrated its 50th anniversary this year at the annual state conference held in Grand Forks in June. NDMTA NDMTA North Dakota Music Teachers Association  has honored five Foundation Fellows, sponsors yearly commissioned composers, has a strong Music Link program with more than 70 members, and holds Music Rallies, which tests theory and keyboard skills. The first Collegiate Chapter was formed in 2005, and a second chapter will soon become a reality. Despite a small population, North Dakota has a strong MTA with recent awards of Local Association of the Year, Teacher of the Year, and highest percentage of members donating to the MTNA MTNA Music Teachers National Association
MTNA Middle Tennessee Nursery Association (McMinnville, Tennessee) 
 Foundation Fund.

 in Boulder, was the site of the Colorado State MTA June conference. Prior to the conference's opening, a leadership and training event was held for officers of the 17 local associations in the state. Small group sessions for local association presidents, secretaries, treasurers and membership chairs were led by the state officers who work in those areas on the state level. The newest Collegiate Chapter hosted special events at the conference for student members and a chamberfest featured student performances of chamber music.
