Wescast gains contracts to produce exhaust manifolds for future General Motors, Ford projects.

, Canada, announced it has secured new contracts to supply cast and machined iron exhaust manifolds for two future General Motors (GM), Detroit, and Ford Motor Co., Dearborn, Mich., programs.

Beginning in the 2007 model year, Wescast will supply GM with fully machined V6 exhaust manifolds for several vehicles, including the Saturn Aura The Saturn Aura is a mid-size car produced under the Saturn brand of American automaker General Motors. It debuted as a concept car at the North American International Auto Show in January 2005. . Wescast will continue to work closely with GM to ensure it supports the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  in the successful launch of its new powertrains and vehicles.

Wescast also was awarded another automotive contract from Ford to supply machined exhaust manifolds for the Ford 2.0L 14 and the 2.3L 14 engine programs. These engines will be used in several future models in North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. .

Production of the Ford products will begin in 2006 at Wescast's casting and machining facilities in Wingham, Ontario, Canada.

"This new contract strengthens our long relationship with the Ford Motor Co. and expands our production plans for the 2006 model year," said Frackowiak. "Wescast's investments over the past several years in manufacturing, design, sales and engineering have increased the value proposition for our customers."
