The first week of Hispanic Heritage Month gets off to a great start in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  as the world-renowned Ballet Folklorico de Mexico Ballet Folklorico de Mexico is a folkloric ballet ensemble in Mexico City. For five decades it has presented dances in costumes that reflect the traditional culture of Mexico. The ensemble has appeared under the name, Ballet Folklorico de Mexico de Amalia Hernandez.  de Amalia Hernandez celebrates its golden anniversary season. As part of its nationwide tour, the dance company comes to Los Angeles this weekend for three performances at the Universal Amphitheatre, sponsored by Wells Fargo. The performances are scheduled for Saturday, September 21 at 8:15 p.m. And Sunday, September 22 at 3:15 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.

The golden anniversary tour features the "best of the best" from 50 years of performances by the Ballet Folklorico de Mexico de Amalia Hernandez under the artistic direction of Hernandez's daughter Norma Lopez. For many devoted followers followers
