Alongside the Boston, New York, London and Berlin Marathons, it is one of the five World Marathon Majors. to kick off a new organization within the competitive sport of road racing Road racing can be a term involving road running, road bicycle races, or automobile races. As contemplated in this article, the term will be treated as it relates to motorsport, specifically, automobile racing and motorcycle racing. . Bill and I began an e-mail discussion in late spring 2002 and continued to gather interest within AMAA and the road racing community into this year. The result is a new division within AMAA and the American Running Association (ARA Ara or Arrah (both: ŭ`rə), city (1991 pop. 157,082), Bihar state, NE India, on the Son Canal. ARRMS will serve the road racing community in North America as an educational resource and medical authority for road races from the 5K distance up through the ultra distances. The initial meeting focused on the group's purpose, direction, committees, and short and long terms goals for ARRMS. One of the first steps was to determine who could join. Simply put, anyone who is a medical or allied-health care professional who works or volunteers at road races is eligible. Further membership definitions are being developed by one of the organizing committees. AMAA and ARA welcome this group as another branch of our health and running-focused organization. ARRMS will serve to educate the running industry, race organizers and the public about medical issues that impact the sport of running and road racing events.
