Welcome to the jungle.

Yellow-striped wallpaper with a rubber-ducky border? Talk about tame. A mod safari look is more what Christie Naus, 13, had in mind for her new room. That's why she called in the help of GL's fave fave   Informal

. Goodbye, baby-ish boring bedroom. Hello, wild child!

Bad-to-the-Bone Bold Bedding

Christie chose a dot-covered comforter for her bed. It was a steal for just $60 from french-brand.com, a Paris-based website. Zebra-print pillowcases, sheets and bed skirt give the bed some edge. Hip tip: The mosquito net (it's zebra-striped, too) not only ties in the safari vibe but gives the room height by drawing the eye up to the ceiling.

Splashes o' Color

The paint color for the walls is what really sets the look of the space. Christie wanted it ultra-bright, so she went for an electric pink. And since the room has the sloped-ceiling detail, lime green creates a great contrast. The corner bookshelves on both sides of the window were redone re·done

with a few coats of paint in a slightly darker shade of pink.

Warm and Fuzzy

Christie loves to have lots of friends over, so she needed plenty of places for them to hang out and chill. Lane started by layering the floor with a furry pink-and-orange area rug area rug

(pbteen.com) and then threw around textured pillows (Horchow) to make guests cozy. Next, Lane added a yellow beanbag bean·bag

chair for fun and comfy color. The window-seat cushion got wild with black faux fur and hot-pink fuzzy trim.

Fab Furnishings

Christie's mom had recently bought an iron bed and custom-made desk, so Lane and Christie decided to finish off the room with a few more furniture pieces. Wicker baskets from Cost Plus World Market went next to the window seat to serve triple duty: ottoman, coffee table and extra storage. And no wimpy Wimpy

Silver table lamps with hot-pink shades (Target) make it modern, and a sophisticated round mirror (Pottery Barn) ties into the polka-dot patterns. Christie already had a shiny disco ball--the perfect final touch to reflect this urbanized safari girl's personality!
