Weiss closed on the property, 324 S. Service Road, Melville, on July 6, just days after Town of Huntington officials approved Weiss' plan to develop the high-tech Melville Corporate Center III on a 6-acre site that currently houses an 80,000-square-foot industrial building. "There's no question Ted Weiss builds beautiful buildings," Christopher Modelewski, chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals, said during a June 30 hearing at Huntington Town Hall at which the plans for the new property were reviewed. "We are grateful that the Huntington Zoning Board of Appeals has recognized the fine properties we build and look forward to developing 324 S. Service Road into yet another beautiful, but affordable, corporate center." Weiss said. TWR plans to begin construction of the four-story office building in August and complete the building in the first half of 2006. Site-plan approval for the project is required before building permits are issued and construction can begin. The current Superior Packaging Inc. plant on the site is to be stripped to its steel and almost doubled in size. The new glass and granite building will be four stories tall and will feature a two-story glass atrium atrium (ā`trēəm), term for an interior court in Roman domestic architecture and also for a type of entrance court in early Christian churches.
