The number of murders and crimes that our children and ourselves see on television in a year is far greater than we would ever actually witness in real life, and the effect of seeing all this violence has not been scientifically measured. Most of us perceive our world as far more dangerous than it is statistically, and we change our behavior and lifestyle to accommodate dangers that do not exist. We were all witnesses to the September 11, 2001 attacks and it is still not clear how our lives have changed, in spite of in opposition to all efforts of; in defiance or contempt of; notwithstanding.
