* The right size backpack needs to be purchased, and parents need to check what's inside. Many students carry unnecessary items such as heavy water bottles and CD players.

* Teachers need to look at the curricula and decide the appropriate time to send home books.

* Administrators should look into purchasing two sets of textbooks (one for school and one for home), online textbooks and e-books.
