Weider Nutrition International, Inc. Announces Private Label Production Agreement With Wal-Mart

Weider to Manufacture All Forms of B-Vitamins for Wal-Mart's Spring Valley

SALT LAKE CITY, March 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Weider Nutrition International, Inc. (NYSE: WNI) today announced it was awarded the B-vitamin private label production business for Wal-Mart (NYSE: WMT). Commencing in April 1998, Weider will manufacture all configurations of B-vitamins for Wal-Mart's Spring Valley brand.

Rick Blair, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Weider, stated, "The tremendous growth in the nutritional supplements category as a whole has provided Weider with a strong position in both branded product and private label manufacturing. By growing our strong partnership, Weider and Wal-Mart continue to develop the best combination of nutritional supplements for Wal-Mart's customers."

Spring Valley's B-vitamin category includes 23 individual products, from straight B-vitamin formulations to B-vitamin complexes. The new line of products complements the private label calcium products that Weider already manufactures for Wal-Mart's Spring Valley brand, as well as Weider's own branded products sold at Wal-Mart.

Commenting on the Wal-Mart production agreement, Luke Bucci, Ph.D., vice president of research for Weider, stated, "Weider is proud to be working with Wal-Mart to supply these important B-vitamin supplements.
