Business Overview
Skechers U.S.A. Inc. designs and markets branded contemporary footwear
for men, women and children under seven individual brand names, namely
Skechers USA, Skechers Sport, Skechers Collection, Skechers Kids,
Somethin' Else from Skechers, Wheelers by Skechers and Skechers Work.
Its core consumers are 12- to 24-year-old men and women. To broaden
its customer base, Skechers introduced new footwear lines, including
Michelle K. Mark Nason, Somethin' Else from Skechers for Girls, 310
Motoring Footwear and Marc Ecko/Rhino Red footwear for men, women and
children. Many of Skechers' core styles are also developed for children
with colors and materials that reflect a playful image appropriate for
the demography. The company's shoes are sold through department stores,
specialty stores, athletic retailers and independents, as well as its
own retail stores and its e-commerce Website. At December 31, 2003, the
company operated 40 concept stores, 42 factory outlet stores and 32
warehouse outlet stores in the United States.
