Business Overview
IRIS International, Inc., incorporated in 1979, designs, develops,
manufactures and markets in vitro diagnostic (IVD) equipment, including
IVD imaging systems based on automated intelligent microscopy (AIM)
technology and special purpose centrifuges, and other small instruments
for automating microscopic procedures performed in clinical
laboratories. The company consists of three operating units, Iris
Diagnostics Division, Stat-Spin, Inc. and Advanced Digital Imaging
Research, LLC (ADIR). IRIS International's largest unit, Iris
Diagnostics Division, designs, manufactures and markets IVD systems,
consumables and supplies for urinalysis. Stat-Spin, Inc., its small
laboratory instruments subsidiary, markets small centrifuges and other
processing equipment and accessories for rapid specimen processing. The
company's ADIR subsidiary assists in the advancement of imaging
technology while conducting government-sponsored research and contract
development in imaging and pattern recognition.
