Weekend: Games Check.

The Chronicles of Riddick -- Escape from Butcher Bay (XBox, pounds 39. 99) HOORAY! Another movie tie-in to break the mould and offer a fantastic game playing experience alongside an all-action blockbuster.

As Riddick, players have one singular goal -- escape from the slam by any and all means necessary. As this least likely of heroes, players must draw on their character's brains and brutality to attempt the unthinkable -- escape from Butcher Bay. And what a brilliant time you'll have trying. This is a fast-paced first-person shooter with a healthy dose of adventure and RPG elements thrown in to keep you thinking beyond the simple motor-function of pulling your trigger finger. Graphically stunning, and with a story line to run as a prequel to the film, this is a serious contender for best game -ever on the Xbox. And that's saying something.

RATING: 9/10 -- Far from RiddickuleYu Gi Oh! Reshef of Destruction (GBA, pounds 29. 99) THE Yu Gi Oh! card-trading franchise is one of the biggest in the world right now, giving Pokemon a good run for its money. And there are no shortage of takers for the electronic versions, too, as Reshef of Destruction follows hot on the heels of the successful Sacred Cards release.

Kids already hooked on the series won't need asking twice to take up the challenge offered by Reshef of Destruction, and anyone who's inquisitive enough to choose this as their first forage into card battling may find it's a world that's hard to leave.
