Wedbush makes healthy choice for top research post.


STEVEN B. Gerber plans on jump-starting Wedbush Morgan Securities equity research group as the division's new director.

"There are extraordinary opportunities for nimble, small investment firms," said Gerber," who will oversee all equity research at Wedbush. "And there are many talented individuals who are fed up with the investment industry. So my primary focus is to expand and upgrade our research."

Gerber, who joins Wedbush from CIBC World Markets CIBC World Markets is the investment banking division of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. It helps governments, large companies, and other large institutions obtain capital and credit and is a primary dealer in U.S. Treasury securities.  where he was managing director and head of health care research, also plans to keep tracking the health care industry. It's a field Gerber, a cardiologist, grasps easily.
