Webcom Communications to launch two journals in 2006.

Webcom Communications (Greenwood Village, CO), the producer of magazines, e-newsletters, directories and events for the software, battery, antenna, vehicle industries, remote asset and magnetics industries, will begin the publication of "LED Journal" in April 2006 and "Instrument Design & Technology" in May.

"LED Journal" will be distributed to 7000 product developers and system designers who integrate LED technologies into their applications throughout industries, and professionals in the LED solid-state lighting industry. Content will focus on light-emitting diodes and solid-state lighting technology, with coverage of application developments, technology advancements, and business and market news in the LED and solid-state lighting industries.

"Instrument Design & Technology" will target design engineers, management and technical professionals involved in the development and manufacturing of analytical instruments, clinical instruments, test equipment, monitoring devices and measurement equipment. Editorial will include information on the design and manufacturing of instrumentation systems and devices in all markets including industrial, electronic, medical, scientific, laboratory and commercial. It will be published three times in 2006 and six times beginning in 2007.

Webcom publishes 12 other journals, including such titles as "Short-Range Wireless," "Software Business," "Fuel Cell" and "Equipment Protection."

Three Acquisitions by Jupitermedia

Continuing its strategy of expansion through acquisition in the image distribution and Internet industries, Jupitermedia's (Darien, CT) JupiterImages division has acquired the assets of Bigshot Media (Halifax, NS) and BBM.net (Atlanta, GA) as well as all the shares of Agence Images (Paris) in separate transactions. No terms for any of the three deals were given.

Agence Images is a distributor of rights-managed digital images for business users and creative professionals. Jupitermedia ceo Alan Meckler said the purchase of Agence Image, together with Jupitermedia's earlier acquisition of PR Direct, a distributor of royalty-free images in France, "further solidifies (our) position as one of the largest organizations in the business of royalty-free and rights-managed images in France."

Bigshot Media distributes royalty-free flash files, images and CD motion titles through license agreements. It claims to have the world's first and largest collection of stock flash imagery, including banners movies and presentation products. BBM.net offers royalty-free music loops online. Meckler said the purchase of Bigshot makes JupiterImages "the number one company in the rapidly growing field of flash imagery for web sites."
