WebEx Communications launches WebEx SMARTtech service.


WebEx An application sharing and conferencing service that is widely used for presentations, demos, training and support from WebEx Communications, Inc., San Jose, CA (www.webex.com). Everything that the presenters see and manipulate on their computers can be viewed by everyone in the  Communications, Inc. has launched WebEx SMARTtech, a new communications service that uses the capabilities of the WebEx MediaTone network to enable support and help desk professionals to securely service unattended systems through the Web. WebEx SMARTtech service was created to help companies cut the cost and time associated with delivering technical support by reducing the need for onsite visits. In addition, it can enable organizations to generate additional revenue by introducing premium services for proactive monitoring and maintenance. Designed for customer support organizations and help desk professionals, WebEx SMARTtech provides secure Internet-based access to unattended remote systems. Support professionals can use the service to install upgrades, troubleshoot To find out why something does not work and to fix the problem. Troubleshooting a computer often requires determining whether the problem is due to malfunctioning hardware or buggy or out-of-date software. Its central theme involves directing corrective actions aimed at failure root causes, not active failure symptoms, faults, or machine wear . WebEx SMARTtech service is delivered over the MediaTone network and can be immediately used without the complex software installation and hardware investment typically associated with traditional remote support tools. WebEx SMARTtech does not require any preinstallation of software or hardware on the support professional's system.
