WeatherBug, the leading provider of live, local weather information services, today announced an all new forecast that incorporates robust data from the National Weather Service. WeatherBug Digital Forecast, a revolutionary advancement in weather forecasting, stems from the reciprocal, long-term relationship with NOAA's National Weather Service (NWS). The integration of NWS' National Digital Forecast Database (NDFD) builds upon the existing arrangement between NWS and WeatherBug, who provides the NWS access to live data gathered from over 8,000 WeatherBug Tracking Stations throughout the U.S., primarily based at schools.

Integrating 12 additional weather variables into the WeatherBug Digital Forecast enables users to better plan their day. Recent research has indicated consumers typically rely upon weather forecasts but have little faith in their accuracy. The new WeatherBug Digital Forecast assures consumers greater reliability and neighborhood relevance. WeatherBug CEO Bob Marshall noted that the enhanced Forecast will dramatically impact consumers' ability to deal with severe weather as rapidly changing conditions approach during this storm and hurricane season.

WeatherBug Digital Forecast uses NDFD, which is produced and updated around the clock by 122 NWS field offices, working in collaboration with NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP). The hourly WeatherBug Digital Forecast is based upon 200 million points of data depicted on a three-mile, square grid that covers the entire country. As conditions change throughout the day, grid readings then change dynamically, to assure up-to-the-second accuracy. The previous forecast model merely viewed the county as a whole, not breaking it down to the square mile, and only in 12 hour increments.
