Wealth gap in 401(k) plans.
Company 401(k) plans are the savings vehicle of choice for most
Americans in preparation for their golden years. However, there are
still significant discrepancies in such retirement plans across racial
and ethnic groups, reports the latest survey findings from Ariel
Investments and Hewitt Associates. Lower participation rates have led to
smaller account balances for African American and Hispanic workers, who
are also more likely to borrow money from their retirement accounts.
