LIKE many other cyclists I pay full council tax to Birmingham City Council, part of which is then used to pay for the likes of road diversions when events take place around the roads of our city.

I therefore object to your scribe scribe (skrīb), Jewish scholar and teacher (called in Hebrew, Soferim) of law as based upon the Old Testament and accumulated traditions. The work of the scribes laid the basis for the Oral Law, as distinct from the Written Law of the Torah.  Bill Platt calling for all the participants of the Sky Ride to contribute an extra pounds 5 to pay for these diversions. I wonder if Mr Platt expects participants in the various parades we have around our city to pay to entertain the crowds of people who enjoy them.

And please remember it is no longer road tax, it is a vehicle excise tax Excise Tax

1. An indirect tax charged on the sale of a particular good.

2. A penalty tax applied to ineligible transactions in retirement accounts. This penalty is assessed by and paid to the IRS.

Notes:
1.
 that you pay and this does not go towards any of the highway departments to pay for setting up road closures, it goes direct to the Government to help prevent further pollution caused by motorists who insist on making two minute journeys when a healthy ten-minute walk or cycle ride is within their capabilities.
