We created a planetarium from a cardboard voting booth.

We created a planetarium planetarium, optical device used to project a representation of the heavens onto a domed ceiling; the term also designates the building that houses such a device. A modern planetarium consists of as many as 150 motor-driven projectors mounted on an axis.  from a cardboard voting booth by spraying the inside with black paint. The children decorated the outside with planets and stars. Then, each child created a pin art constellation, such as the Big Dipper Big Dipper, familiar configuration of stars visible in the constellation Ursa Major (see Ursa Major and Ursa Minor). , by laying a photocopy of the constellation over black construction paper and pressing a hole through the paper with the end of a paper clip. The resulting pin art was placed on an overhead projector and displayed in the planetarium. With the lights off, it was a remarkable likeness of stars in the sky.--Carolyn Prough, third-grade teacher, Newport Coast Elementary, Corona Corona, city, United States
