If you let the smoke generator run out of fuel, you have go purge To eliminate or delete. the whole system to get the air out. That can take 20 minutes. When the M56 is blowing smoke, it can run through a tank of fuel in 60 to 90 minutes. So even if the tank is full at the beginning of a smoke operation, you may need to re-fuel during the mission, which is much easier than purging.
