"Mindspeed has made significant investments in research and development to reduce the overall costs associated with fiber optics module manufacturing. Our Eye-Minder technology streamlines module manufacturing by enabling the use of lower-cost lasers, while eliminating the need to do extensive temperature characterization and tuning during assembly," said Hasnain Bajwa, executive director of marketing at Mindspeed. "Wave7's selection of Mindspeed's solution demonstrates the end-to-end value customers perceive in our M02090."

The highly integrated, programmable M02090 burst-mode laser driver and limiting amplifier utilizes Mindspeed's proprietary Eye-Minder dual-loop technology which reduces overall system costs by providing real-time compensation of laser aging and temperature effects. The M02090 offers a single, flexible solution that addresses multiple passive optical network (PON) applications including broadband PON (BPON See PON. ), Gigabit Ethernet PON (GEPON) and Gigabit-capable PON (GPON).

About Wave7 Optics

Wave7 Optics has established itself as an industry leader in optical broadband access systems with an expanding FTTP product portfolio featuring a variety of architectural options, based on IP and Ethernet or ATM standards, for "triple play" voice, video and data services. The company's patented Last Mile Link[TM] and Trident7 systems are gaining market share rapidly around the world with service providers in the IOC, CLEC (Competitive Local Exchange Carrier) An organization offering local telephone service that is not one of the traditional telephone companies. The Telecommunications Act of 1996 allowed competition to the incumbent telcos (ILECs), enabling new companies (CLECs) , MSO, municipal, utility and real estate development categories.
