Growth in Private Label Fulfillment Services Results in

200 New Jobs and New Building

Waterfield Financial Corp., a division of Waterfield Mortgage Company, Inc., the largest privately-held mortgage company in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. , announced today the creation of approximately 200 new jobs and plans for more than 40,000 square feet of additional office space in Fort Wayne to support growth in its private label fulfillment services division.

Sherman, chairman and chief executive officer of Waterfield Mortgage. "Waterfield has been a part of this community for more than 73 years and the people of Fort Wayne have been and remain an integral part of our success."

Waterfield first provided private label mortgage fulfillment services on behalf of other lending firms in 1999 and has witnessed continual growth in this area. Digital-imaging automation has improved the efficiency of Waterfield's mortgage back-shop operations at least 20 percent.

"We're not chasing paper around. We don't lose documents and it improves our time from application to closing," states Lynn Weaver, executive vice president of operations. "The word is getting out. Our customer service levels are extremely high."

Due to the increase in demand for these services, Waterfield will begin filling positions in telesales, mortgage processing, closing, underwriting, clerical support, training, management and staff supervision in the first quarter of 2002. Additionally, the new office facility will be constructed on a 5.3-acre parcel that will add to the Waterfield headquarters in the Midwestern Office Park. The park is located at the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Engle Road. Fort Wayne-based Steininger Development is overseeing the construction of the new facility, expected to be operational in July 2002.

Allen County officials have offered tax abatement on the new facility as part of the community's investment in this project.

The city of Fort Wayne has offered an infrastructure grant to assist with necessary communications work to link the new building with the rest of the Waterfield facilities.
