Water-quenched bubble is fast way to coextrude PE. (Keeping up with Extrusion).

An unusual water-quenched blown-film process reportedly produces multi-layer polyethylene/nylon barrier films with the clarity and output rates of cast film and the biaxial biaxial /bi·ax·i·al/ (-ak´se-al) having, pertaining to, or occurring in two axes.  orientation orientation, in architecture, the disposition of the parts of a building with reference to the points of the compass. From remote antiquity the traditional belief in the efficacy of religious ceremonials performed at dawn toward the rising sun has influenced the  of blown film. The process, called Aquafrost, is designed to make high-clarity barrier film for deep-draw thermoforming. Parts formed from blown film reportedly are more dimensionally stable than ones formed from mono-axially stretched cast film. Aquafrost was developed by Brampton Brampton, city (1991 pop. 234,445), S Ont., Canada, NW of Toronto. Incorporated as a village (1852), a town (1873), and then a city (1976), it is noted for its greenhouses and flowers. Automobiles, shoes, lumber, optical goods, and other products are made.  Engineering of Brampton, Ont., which offers it for licensing. Brampton has sold one Aquafrost line.

chamber, similar to water-quenched downward extrusion of PP blown film. One difference is that water-quenched PP downward extrusion is extremely slow, whereas output rates for Aquafrost are 2.5 times higher than for conventional PE blown film. Tel: (905) 793-3000, www.be-ca.com
