:WM) announced that it has hired Philip G. Grossman as first vice president and regional community lending manager for the bank's Eastern and Central regions including New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Georgia, Florida, Texas and Illinois.

Grossman, a 25 year veteran in real estate and community development finance, is responsible for overseeing community lending products, community development and financing for affordable housing in low to moderate income communities. He is located in the New York office and reports directly to Don Brewer, senior vice president of community lending at Washington Mutual. Before joining WaMu, Grossman worked at Banc of America Securities (BAS BAS
