Embedded operating systems are typically very compact and often designed for real time operations. Systems to be build on the architecture will be robust as an application running on one OS cannot access an application running on another OS, and also as debugs on an application affect only its runtime environment, minimizing the damage.

The partners confirmed beforehand in an experiment that IRON on a micro-kernel has ensured realtime capability, which has been a concern over virtual OS's.

The project will be finished in March 2007. The source code of the architecture program, the fruit of the project, will be made public, and the partners will aim to encourage its wide use.
