Daily, described as "a complement to Communications Daily, which has covered telecommunications and mass media since 1981."

Senior editor and executive publisher Paul Warren said they "decided to publish the separate Washington Internet Daily because of the increase in news in the internet field and demand from readers for increased coverage."

That reader demand has proven to be on the mark. Paul now calls the

newsletter "a success--we're very happy with it."

He also told NL/NL that they marketed heavily to Communications Daily subscribers, offering trial subscriptions and giving CD subscribers a $600 discount off the regular rate of $1,895/year.

But other lists were used as well. And the good results have come principally from a direct sales force. The trial subscriptions are followed up by extensive telephone solicitations.

Warren said the new news-letter is published both in paper and electronic versions. "We're finding that even among our highly wired telecommunications executives, many of them prefer to hold the paper newsletter in their hands."

Albert Warren, who founded the company in 1945, remains editor and publisher. Son Daniel Warren Daniel Adam Warren (March 15, 1972) is a composer and jazz musician.

Daniel “Dank” Warren was born in Tennessee under the strong influence of deep south gospel, blues, soul and jazz.

Albert was inducted into the Newsletter & Electronic Publishers Association Hall of Fame in 1985, and Paul served as the association's 1989-90 president.

In addition to 19 newsletters and news services, the company --which has 75 employees-- publishes the industry-standard, 5,000-page Television & Cable Factbook and other directories, telecom company profiles and market studies. Warren also offers market research services via its extensive cable system and TV station databases.
