(AOL (A division of Time Warner, Inc., New York, NY, www.aol.com) The world's largest online information service with access to the Internet, e-mail, chat rooms and a variety of databases and services. ) announced today that they will work together on a new campaign to bring comprehensive online promotions of WMG superstars and top new artists to more than 27 million AOL members and the millions of users of AOL's music services Winamp.com and Spinner.com.

Under the most extensive joint promotional commitment the companies have made to date, AOL will promote new releases from more than a dozen major artists from WMG's label groups, Atlantic, Elektra, London-Sire and Warner Bros. AOL members will find these new promotions in the Music and Entertainment Channels of the AOL service, and Internet users can reach them through AOL's two music services, Winamp.com, the world's leading high-fidelity audio player that enables millions of music fans to digitally download music, and Spinner.com, the Internet's first and leading music service, which provides more than 130 music channels covering a broad range of musical genres.

This new initiative follows several successful prior promotional endeavors between WMG and AOL. In September 2000, Warner Bros. Records and Spinner teamed up for the launch of Madonna's latest album, Music. The promotion included a world premiere global listening party followed by Madonna's first-ever live AOL chat with 120,000 plus fans. The album debuted the following week at No. 1 on the Billboard best-selling album chart. Earlier in the year, a matchbox twenty promotion with AOL, Spinner.com and Winamp.com helped drive mad season by matchbox twenty to No. 1 on Billboard's Internet sales chart in its first week and to a No. 3 debut on the SoundScan Top 200.

Highlights of the new multi-tiered new promotional campaign include:
-- 30-day, timed-out, secure digital downloads of selected audio tracks from
the aforementioned artists, available via AOL's Winamp.com and Spinner.com
music services

-- 30-second excerpts from selected music videos

-- artist-branded custom "radio stations"

-- artist chats and bulletin boards

-- a variety of links to the labels' and artists' Web sites, the artists'
subscription mailing list, fan pages and clubs, and album pre-ordering
capabilities

-- bundling of AOL software on selected artists' CDs

Paul Vidich, Executive Vice President, Strategic Planning and Business Development for Warner Music Group, said: "This new relationship will give us the opportunity to introduce AOL's millions of music fans to some of our most promising new talent as well as bring AOL members great music from some of the world's best-known recording artists. We've had tremendous success with AOL in the past, and we're excited to expand our relationship with this broad new set of promotional tools for our artists."

Jonathan Sacks, President of AOL, said: "We couldn't be more pleased to work again with WMG to bring our audiences some of the best and most popular music and artists available today. This exciting announcement creates a real win for consumers through the combination of their top recording stars and emerging talent, and our dedication to offering our members the most fun and best possible online experience."
