"While cable television is still our core business, we are more than cable television," he said. "Because of the resources of our parent company, Time Warner, we will provide our central Ohio customers with greater access to entertainment, news and information beyond the television screen -- through computers and phones. Beginning today, our phones will be answered differently and our trucks will look different. That's because we are different."

O'Connell stressed that, although service is expanding and the name has changed, the company's dedication to quality, innovation and service remains the same. "We are the same company that our customers have come to rely on for advanced fiber optic technology, 24-hour customer service and programming value," he said. Background
__________
The Columbus Division of Time Warner Communications serves 194,000
customers in 38 central Ohio communities. It is a division of Time
Warner Cable, the nation's second largest cable operator, with 12.1
million customers in 37 states. Time Warner Cable is a unit of Time
Warner Entertainment, L.P., the world's largest media and
entertainment company.

History
_______
The company started in 1971 as Warner Cable Communications, Inc.,
with its headquarters in Dublin, Ohio and Columbus division offices
in Columbus. In 1989, Warner Cable Communications acquired the Ohio
cable systems owned and operated by Centel Cable Corp. and
Tele-Media Cable Co. Later that year, Warner Communications and
Time Inc. merged to form Time Warner Inc. In 1992, the Columbus
Division acquired the former All-American and Delaware Cable
systems, expanding to serve more than 165,000 customers in 33
communities. After the acquisition of Heartland Cable in 1996, the
division now serves 38 communities and 194,000 customers.

Technology
__________
The company was one of the first cable providers in central Ohio,
and has a history of innovation starting with the introduction of
QUBE, the first interactive cable service, in the late 1970s, and
being the first in the area to offer push-button pay-per-view in the
1980s. Since 1989, the company has continually upgraded its
network: first to 550 MHz and then to 750 MHz. These network
improvements will continue through 1998. The central Ohio
architecture is the hybrid fiber optic/coaxial cable network that
won Time Warner an Emmy Award in 1994 and is now being used by other
cable providers and telephone companies across the country.

Customer Service
________________
The division has pioneered local customer service improvement. In
1991, it was one of the first Columbus companies to make employees
available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for customer service.
It was also one of the first to schedule service appointments first
in three-hour time frames and now in two-hour time frames.
Additionally, Time Warner Communications is the only local company
to guarantee "on time" service. Service appointments are on time or
the customer is credited $20; installation is on time or it's free.

Programming
___________
The Columbus Division offers 60 channels of Standard service
(including the Disney Channel) plus eight premium and eight
pay-per-view channels. Programming innovations with roots in
Columbus include MTV and Nickelodeon.
