Warner Bros. Publications Introduces Here Comes a Marching Band Fund-Raising Program.

Business & Entertainment Editors/Education Writers

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 11, 2002

Music makes a valuable contribution to the intellectual and emotional development of children. Studies conducted at leading universities across the US and throughout the world have shown that students who study music tend to do better in other subjects as well.

Yet despite the benefits it offers, music is too often regarded as an unessential "frill" by school boards developing core curriculum. In an effort to raise public awareness of music's importance, Warner Bros BROS Brothers

Under the new program, Warner Bros. Publications will underwrite the cost of holding fund-raising spaghetti dinners for high school marching band programs throughout the US. The company plans to offer the Here Comes a Marching Band Spaghetti Dinner Fund-raising Program to schools in selected cities across America in 2002.

Warner Bros. Publications sponsored its first Here Comes a Marching Band Spaghetti Dinner Fund-raiser at Rancho Buena Vista High School Rancho Buena Vista High School or "RBV" is a California Distinguished School located in Vista, California.

Produced by Warner Bros. Publications in conjunction with Power To Create, an award-winning maker of children's videos, Here Comes a Marching Band takes a creative approach toward introducing youngsters to the world of marching bands and music by showing them how the different instruments work together to create that special marching band sound. Members of the Rancho Buena Vista band appear in the video, talking to Noun 1. talking to - a lengthy rebuke; "a good lecture was my father's idea of discipline"; "the teacher gave him a talking to"

The goal of the new video is to stimulate interest in music education in general, and marching bands in particular, among children and parents. Study after study has shown that learning music improves a child's academic performance in other subjects.
