Foreign Buildings Operations - First at State Department to Implement

Seat Management Model

The Department of State's Office of Foreign Buildings Operations (FBO) has awarded Wang Government Services, Inc., a Getronics Company, the Department of State's first seat management contract designed to maximize the organization's information technology efficiencies.

Under this contract, the company will provide the full range of seat-managed services, including local network management, hardware and software asset management, deskside support and maintenance, e-commerce services, and training.

Awarded under the General Services Administration (GSA) Seat Management contract, the FBO performance based contract covers a one-year base period plus nine one-year options. The FBO seat management program will start with approximately 1,100 employees in the Washington, D.C. area.

FBO's mission is to provide safe, secure, facilities for the U.S. diplomatic presence abroad to help achieve our country's foreign policy objectives. FBO owns or leases more than 12,000 properties for the State Department. FBO is the first organization in the State Department to adopt the seat management model of providing integrated information technology solutions through one provider.
