Walters Group gets okay to build 85-acre residential community.

 Group recently obtained approvals to build Whispering Hills, a planned residential community on 85 acres at Rose Hill Road, between Barnegat Avenue and Route 9, in Barnegat, N.J.

The proposed development will consist of 258 rental and for-sale units and will include 99 single-family homes, 107 townhouses and 52 affordable housing apartments.

The garden-style apartments, which will rent for about $650 per month for a one-bedroom and $950 per month for a three-bedroom, will help the town meet its state-mandated affordable housing goal.

Construction is slated to begin in the fall of 2007 and is expected to be completed by 2010, according to according to

The two-story single-family homes in the development are expected to sell for $350,000 to $450,000, and the townhouses will sell for between $325,000 and $400,000, according to Walters.
