Two senior officers, Walter Buczynski and Darrell Swanson, have been appointed executive vice presidents of Margaretten & Company, Inc., the mortgage banking unit of Primerica Corporation.

Buczynski, who has been with Margaretten for 18 years, is engaged in the firm's marketing, pricing and product development. Swanson has responsibility for servicing, underwriting, appraisal and audit.

Buczynski joined Margaretten in 1973 as an accountant and subsequently rose to controller, vice president and senior vice president. He is past chairman of the Government National Mortgage Association (Ginnie Mae) liaison committee of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America and a member of the Northeast regional advisory board of Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae). He also is a member of the MBA's secondary and capital markets committee and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac) liaison committee. A graduate of Rutgers University and a former helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War, Buczynski is a resident of Freehold.

Swanson came to Margaretten in 1985 from Knutson Mortgage in Minnesota, where he was president and chief executive. He joined Margaretten as first vice president and rose to become senior vice president. Swanson serves on the residential loan production committee of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America as well as the MBA's regulatory compliance and legal issues committees. He is a former member of the executive committee of the board of governors of the Minnesota Mortgage Bankers Association. A graduate of St. Olaf College, Swanson lives in Bedminster and is a member of the Bedminster Township Planning Board.

Headquartered in Perth Amboy, Margaretten is one of the largest mortgage bankers in the country. The 82-year-old company has offices in 18 states. In the first nine months of 1991, Margaretten provided more than $3 billion in mortgage loans to home buyers nationally.
