Wall Street Stock Forecaster, exceeding the best industry response rates by more than 111 percent, wins NL/NL promotion award.

The Wall Street Stock Forecaster, published by Torontobased Patrick McKeough, took home the Gold Award in the investment category in The Newsletter on Newsletter's 2000 Newsletter Promotion Awards Competition.

The direct mail package was written by Craig Craig   , Edward Gordon 1872-1966.

Huey said they began by facing the following marketing challenges:

* "Pat McKeough is a Canadian Canadian (kənā`dēən), river, 906 mi (1,458 km) long, rising in NE New Mexico. and flowing E across N Texas and central Oklahoma into the Arkansas River in E Oklahoma.  who wanted to market an investment newsletter in the U.S.--a task that has never been successful for any newsletter published in another country," Huey said. "Research, tests and launches by others have proven that U.S. investors always have rejected investment advice from another country"

(However, we'd like to point out that Harry Schultz has been publishing the 1964-founded International Harry Schultz Letter investment advisory from Switzerland for years.)

* "Although well known in Canada for a couple of small-circulation newsletters for the Canadian market, he was totally unknown by U.S. investors."

* "The U.S. market is dominated by several well-financed mega publishers," Huey said, while his client is a small independent publisher.

Huey summed up: "The marketing team faced the huge and very difficult challenge of introducing a new product without any track record or known personality in an oversaturated market."

The objectives

1. To successfully launch a new newsletter that would at least recover production costs on the first mail drop.

2. To introduce Patrick McKeough to the American market in a unique way that would differentiate him from more than 1,200 competing investment newsletters.

The creative solution

* The package stressed Pat McKeough's being right about the bull market of the '90s and established his credibility.

* A "forecast" approach with recommendations for "3 Mega Stock Trends" was created to stimulate interest and intrigue Intrigue

* Huey also used a U.S. address to avoid any focus on McKeough's Canadian roots.

The results

"The mailing package far exceeded our best projections," Huey reported.

"Without having the budgets of the large publishers, The Wall Street Stock Forecaster is one of America's fastest growing newsletters, exceeding the best industry reponse rates by more than 111 percent.

"The Wall Street Stock Forecaster is probably the most successful newsletter launch of 1999-2000," Huey said. The original mailing date Mailing Date
