Waldo R. Schofield, 89.

HOLDEN Waldo R. Schofield, 89, of Holden and Cocoa Beach Florida, died Sunday, June 8, 2008 at U Mass Memorial Hospital.

He leaves his wife of 68 years, Birdie E. (Smith) Schofield; a son, Ronald Schofield and his wife Susan Johnson, D.V.M. of North Brookfield; a daughter, Nancy Mosher and her husband Clayton of Princeton; a brother Eldon Schofield of Leicester; a sister Maxine Anderson of Holden; four grandchildren, Mark and David Schofield, Lisa Christian and Sheri Hardy; and four great grandchildren.

Waldo was born in Nova Scotia, the son of Raymond and Hilda (Hatt) Schofield. He was a member of the Army Air Corp during WWII, stationed in India. After his service in the Air Corp, he resumed his career as a Machinist at Heald Machine Company until his retirement in 1982. Waldo was a 50 year member of the Rufus Putnam Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Rutland. He was a loving and devoted husband, a wonderful dad, and an amazing gramp and great gramp. He was a friend to many, always bringing a smile and quick wit to any gathering. He loved his homes, his gardens, and golf. Most of all he loved his family.

Funeral Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the Rufus Putnam Lodge A.F. & A.M., 293 Main Street, PO Box 151, Rutland, MA 01543 or to the charity of one's choice. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is directing arrangements.
