Wal-Mart discounts justice. (On the Line).


On November 21, thousands of people across the country participated in a National Day of Action at Wal-Mart stores. The United Food and Commercial Workers The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union is a labor union representing approximately 1.4 million workers in the United States and Canada in many industries, including agriculture, health care, meatpacking, poultry and food processing, manufacturing, textile and  (UFCW UFCW United Food and Commercial Workers ) union used the day to kick off its People's Campaign--Justice at Wal-Mart.

The nation's largest employer with more than one million U.S. employees, Wal-Mart pays its workers such low wages that health care benefits offered to them are beyond reach. According to according to

 the UFCW, two-thirds of Wal-Mart workers can't afford Wal-Mart health insurance because it costs $192 every two weeks. Wal-Mart is also facing a sex discrimination lawsuit lawsuit: see procedure; tort. , in addition to several lawsuits for allegedly forcing people to work off the clock.
