Wakefield Engineering Offers Comprehensive Thermal Management Solutions for Intel's Pentium II Xeon Microprocessors.WAKEFIELD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 29, 1998-- Series 862 and 863 Cool Processor And Supporting Chipsets Three new heat sinks from Wakefield Engineering are designed specifically to meet the high performance thermal management demands of Intel's new Pentium(R) II Xeon microprocessors. Wakefield's product line comprises two passive heat sinks -- the Series 862 and 862X (crosscut) -- and an active device -- the Series 862F. In addition, Wakefield offers the Series 863X1 and 863X2 devices, to meet the cooling needs for supporting chipsets. These products continue to expand Wakefield Engineering's extensive Penguin Coolers(TM) line of heat sinks, widely used on many of today's advanced microprocessors. The Pentium(R) II Xeon(TM) brand is Intel's newest processor, targeted exclusively at midrange midrange Epidemiology The halfway point or midpoint in a set of observations; for most data, MR is calculated as the sum of the smallest observation and the largest observation, divided by 2; for age data, one is added to the numerator; a midrange is usually and higher computer servers, engineering and video workstations. The new processor is part of a family of future Intel(R) processors, and is designed with larger L2 cache (Level 2 cache) A memory bank built into the CPU chip, packaged within the same module or built on the motherboard. The L2 cache feeds the L1 cache, and its memory is slower than L1 memory. The L2 cache feeds the L1 cache, which feeds the processor. sizes, a full-speed L2 cache bus, and increased cachable address space. The Xeon processor is the first Intel processor family member for the Slot 2 form factor. It will initially run at a clock speed of 400 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc. with a 100 MHz system bus. At an approach velocity of 200LFM LFM Landesanstalt für Medien Nordrhein-Westfalen (Germany) LFM Leaders for Manufacturing (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) LFM Lateral Force Microscopy LFM Linear Feet per Minute LFM Looking for More (linear feet per minute), the Series 862 has a thermal performance of 0.52(degree)C/Watt, the Series 862X has a thermal performance of 0.44(degree)C/Watt, exceeding Intel's requirements. The Series 862F active heat sink includes a reliable 2-wire, 12V Zephyr Zephyr or Zephyrus: see Eos. (TM) ball bearing fan with standard 3-pin connection with a thermal performance of 0.87(degree)C/Watt. A 3-wire sense lead is optionally available. All three products are physically compatible with the new Slot II SEC Cartridge. Optional "phase-change" thermal interface materials A Thermal Interface Material (aka TIM) is used to fill the gaps between thermal transfer surfaces, such as between microprocessors and heatsinks, in order to increase thermal transfer efficiency. These gaps are normally filled with air which is a very poor conductor. minimize contact resistance without the mess of thermal compounds. OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and pricing ranges from $7.43 - $22.05 for quantities of 5,000 units including the interface. As a leader in the industry for over 35 years, Wakefield Engineering designs, manufactures and sells thermal management products, principally heat sinks, which act to remove excess heat generated by electronic components, thereby increasing their life and reliability. Wakefield Engineering is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alpha Technologies Group, Inc. (NASDAQ NASDAQ in full National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations U.S. market for over-the-counter securities.
