 WYETH-AYERST LABORATORIES ANNOUNCES VOLUNTARY RECALL
 OF CERTAIN LOTS OF EPINEPHRINE 1:1000 INJECTION
 PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories announced today a voluntary recall of certain lots of Epinephrine 1:1000 injection packaged in 1 ml Tubex sterile cartridge units. The Food and Drug Administration is aware of this recall action. Also affected are products sold by Hollister-Stier which utilize the Wyeth-Ayerst-produced Epinephrine Tubex. Epinephrine is frequently used to treat severe allergic reactions to such things as bee stings or to treat severe asthmatic attacks.
 The Hollister-Stier products involved are as follows:
 -- ANA-Kit(R) Anaphylaxis Emergency Treatment Kit
 -- ANA-GUARD(TM) Epinephrine Injection, USP (1:1000)
 -- Epinephrine Injection, USP (1:1000) Refill
 The Epinephrine products in question were manufactured between Aug. 14, 1989, and July 10, 1990. Wyeth-Ayerst estimates that 2,000,000 units have been distributed worldwide. Wyeth-Ayerst is initiating the recall because the lots (noted below) contain Epinephrine which is below the potency stated on the package.

 Packages may also carry the suffix "A".
