The recent massive earthquake and tsunami in Asia, spawned by tectonic plates This is a list of tectonic plates on Earth. Tectonic plates are pieces of the Earth's crust and uppermost mantle, together referred to as the lithosphere. The plates are around 100 km (60 miles) thick and consist of two principal types of material: oceanic crust (also called  shifting 12 miles beneath the ocean's surface, has many people questioning their own well being as well as the significance of our planet. Is Earth merely an insignificant speck in a vast and meaningless universe? Or is Earth far more significant than virtually anyone has realized? The Privileged Planet one-hour documentary will address these questions head on, after which the audience can join in with a live question and answer session with co-author of The Privileged Planet, Dr. Jay Richards  Jay Wesley Richards is Research Fellow and Director of Acton Media at the Acton Institute in Grand Rapids, Michigan.[1] Richards is also a member of the Apologetics Faculty of Biola University. , who is the host for the event. Dr. Richards is vice president and senior fellow of the Discovery Institute in Seattle. He received his Ph.D. with honors from Princeton Theological Seminary Princeton Theological Seminary is a theological seminary of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) located in the Borough of Princeton, New Jersey in the United States. , has received wide notice in the scientific world for its shocking conclusion: Planet Earth, say the authors, has many key features that are exquisitely fine-tuned, in two ways -- they are precisely right for life and ideal for scientific discovery. They argue that the sheer number of fine-tuned factors rules out "chance" and points to an intelligent designer.

The documentary brings to light the search for purpose in the universe by exploring the role of tectonic plates, the wonders of water and solar eclipses, the Earth's optimal location between two arms of the Milky Way, and the delicately balanced laws that govern the universe -- down to the behavior of atoms and the forces of nature. Science comes alive in some of the most breathtaking special effects ever attempted in film, allowing the viewer to fly through star clusters and dangerous galactic regions shrouded with dust clouds and menaced by black holes.

The CS Lewis Society, which focuses on the dialogue between science and theology, has held over fifty seminars and debates on university campuses such as Princeton, Dartmouth, Boston University, and the University of Budapest. It monitors the scholarly work of the Intelligent Design Movement, which since the early 1990s has argued that evidence supporting Darwinian macroevolution is extremely weak, and that genetically coded information in DNA DNA: see nucleic acid.
