WRITERS GUILD LISTS SCREENPLAY PRIZE NOMINEES.

Actress-turned-writer Emma Thompson's "Sense and Sensibility Sense and Sensibility is a novel by the English novelist Jane Austen, that was first published in 1811. It was the first of Austen's novels to be published, under the pseudonym "A Lady". " screenplay and director Mike Figgis' script for "Leaving Las Vegas" received Writers Guild Award nominations Thursday.

They are among the nominees for the 48th annual WGA WGA Windows Genuine Advantage (Microsoft)
WGA Writers Guild of America (union for screenwriters)
WGA Wise Giving Alliance (Better Business Bureau)
WGA wheat germ agglutinin
 awards for best screenplay based on material previously produced or published, and will compete with "Apollo 13," "Babe" and "Get Shorty short·y also short·ie   Informal

Also announced Thursday were nominees for best screenplay written directly for the screen, which are "The American President," "Braveheart," "Clueless," "Mighty Aphrodite" and "Muriel's Wedding."

Thompson won a Golden Globe Award last month from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for her screenplay, and is expected to get an Academy Award nod, as well.

Eligible films were those that were released in 1995 under the jurisdiction of the Writers Guild of America The Writers Guild of America is a term often referring to the joint efforts of the Writers Guild of America, East and the Writers Guild of America, west. The members selected their nominations from a total of 206 films in both categories.Winners of the Screen Awards, along with winners in the WGA's Television and Radio Awards will be announced March 17 at ceremonies on both coasts.The local ceremony will be held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills and will be hosted by Carol Leifer, a stand-up stand·up or stand-up
