WRITER LEBLANC DEAD AT 70; HAD WORKED AT GREEN SHEET.Byline: Orith Goldberg Staff Writer WODDLAND HILLS - Gerald ``Jerry'' Marcel LeBlanc, a Woodland Hills resident who authored seven books and worked for a number of newspapers during his career as a journalist, lost his battle with lung cancer lung cancer, cancer that originates in the tissues of the lungs. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States in both men and women. Like other cancers, lung cancer occurs after repeated insults to the genetic material of the cell. and died Dec. 17, his wife said Wednesday. His death came one week before his 71st birthday. LeBlanc's journalistic endeavors included working in the late 1960s as a reporter for the Van Nuys News and Green Sheet, predecessor to the Los Angeles Daily News The Daily News of Los Angeles, also known as the Los Angeles Daily News, is the second largest circulating daily newspaper of Los Angeles, California. He was so well-read.'' LeBlanc was born Dec. 24, 1929, in Lynn, Mass. His passion for writing emerged after he joined the Navy at age 17. LeBlanc later attended Boston College and then Northwestern University's school of journalism. As an author, LeBlanc co-wrote a book on the Manson Family called ``Five To Die.'' The father of five also co-authored a book with his wife called ``Suddenly Rich,'' a book published in 1978 detailing what it feels like to become rich overnight. ``He was my soul mate,'' his wife said. ``We were each other's soul mates and that is what I will miss the most about him.'' In addition to his wife, LeBlanc is survived by his daughters Monique, 45, of Kihei, Hawaii; Mia, 35, of Sherman Oaks; and Marisa, 32, of Tarzana; and by his sons Jerry, 47, of Van Nuys, and Norman, 39, of Sparks, Nev.
