WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS: SAN FERNANDO TO MISS TWO IN DUAL TITLE MEET.

Byline: Gerry Gittelson Staff Writer

For tonight, the usual high school wrestling rivalry between El Camino Real El Camino Real (Spanish for The Royal Road or The King's Highway) was the name of a series of pre-automobile highways linking the various New World colonies of Spain:

will be without much of its punch.

San Fernando coach Mike Castillo said his best wrestlers See

, undefeated Willy German (171) and fellow City champion Ramon Perry (145), won't participate in the annual dual team championship meet at 4 p.m. because they don't want to.

``They've indicated they're not interested. It's their prerogative An exclusive privilege. The special power or peculiar right possessed by an official by virtue of his or her office. In English Law, a discretionary power that exceeds and is unaffected by any other power; the special preeminence that the monarch has over and above all others, ,'' Castillo said. ``(The dual tournament) doesn't serve any purpose and they don't seed it for seeding at the state tournament. They could get hurt, so why put them at risk?''

German, ranked No. 2 in the region by the Daily News (all weight classes) is 22-0 with five tournament victories, and he is the area's only undefeated wrestler. Perry (14-2), splitting time between wrestling and basketball - he's averaging more than 26 points per game - hasn't finished worse than third in a tournament this year.

This is the first time the duals have been scheduled after the individual championship meet. The timing played into Castillo's decision to allow German and Perry to skip the meet.

``I think it's kind of anticlimactic an·ti·cli·max

El Camino Real coach Terry Fischer was angry when he heard the news.

``That's his loss,'' Fischer said. ``Isn't every competition important? When you put your school's name on the mat, and 200 people pay money to see the meet, you try to win. We've won four in a row and we're gonna gon·na
