 thought Steve Munoz had won in the the final seconds of the fourth overtime of a 135-pound category match. It appeared Munoz had escaped the grasp of Agoura's Dayne Santoro in the championship dual meet of the fourth annual Reseda Wrestling Classic.

Instead, Santoro held on for a 4-2 win for three team points that didn't directly affect the Chargers' 39-28 come-from- behind effort to beat El Camino Real for the title of the eight-team dual meet that featured Westlake, Crespi of Encino, Birmingham of Lake Balboa Balboa, town (1990 pop. 2,751), Colón prov., in the former Panama Canal Zone, on the Gulf of Panama. The port for Panama City, Balboa was the administrative headquarters of the Panama Canal Zone. It was also the site of a U.S. navy base (closed 1999). , Sylmar, Huntington Park Huntington Park, city (1990 pop. 56,065), Los Angeles co., S Calif., a residential and industrial suburb of Los Angeles; founded 1856, inc. 1906. Santoro was holding Munoz down on the mat with his legs wrapped around the Conquistador conquistador (kŏnkwĭs`tədôr, Span. kōng-kē'stäthôr`), military leader in the Spanish conquest of the New World in the 16th cent.  standout with time expiring and a 2-2 tie. That's when Munoz kicked out of Santoro's hold for a reversal and apparent win. But the official ruling declared Munoz had escaped after the clock read :00 on a scoreboard without a buzzer.

``I was appalled,'' said Santoro, who finished 5-0 and took first place at 135. ``I really thought I had lost.''

CIF (1) (Common Intermediate Format) A standard video format used in videoconferencing. CIF formats are defined by their resolution, and standards both above and below the original resolution have been established. The original CIF is also known as Full CIF (FCIF).  implemented a rule this season that allows matches to go into a fourth overtime if tied. In that final period, the individual choosing to wrestle from the top position must hold the other down for the entire 30 seconds of the period to win. Munoz would have been awarded the win had he escaped from Santoro's hold before time expired.

``I thought I had him, and I was really happy,'' said Munoz, a two-time defending City Section champion

El Camino Real had a chance to win the meet, leading 28-27 with one match left, but Agoura's Brent Goldwater pinned Estevan Sanchez with 44.2 seconds left in the first period to earn six points and the Chargers' third straight pin.
