WREG-TV Names Claudia Barr News Anchor/Reporter.

, Tenn. -- WREG-TV, The New York Times Company Broadcast Media Group's Memphis station, today announced the appointment of Claudia Barr as news anchor/reporter effective immediately. Ms. Barr has been the interim anchor/reporter since January. She will report to Bruce Moore, WREG-TV News Director.

"Claudia has done a fantastic job during her past three months with the station and I am pleased to welcome her officially to the WREG-TV family," said Ronald A. Walter, president and general manager of WREG-TV. "Her extensive journalistic experiences will translate to enhanced news coverage for our viewers."

Ms. Barr's extensive newsroom experience extends from her time at WHBQ-Channel 13 in Memphis, where she was a news anchor/reporter from 1980 until 2004. Previously, she worked at WREC Radio from 1976 until 1980 in several positions, including assistant news director, news anchor and assignment editor. She began her news anchor career in 1975 when she worked for WDIA Radio.

Ms. Barr studied journalism at the University of Memphis The University of Memphis is a public research university located in Memphis, Tennessee, United States, and is a flagship public research university of the Tennessee Board of Regents system.  from 1967 until 1972. She was previously the director for the University of Memphis Board of Alumni and in 2000 she was awarded a distinguished alumni award from the same organization.
