WPI Opens New Heat Treating Consortium.

(WPI WPI - Worcester Polytechnic Institute , Worcester, Massachusetts, has announced that its Metal Processing Institute (MPI MPI - Message Passing Interface ) opened its Center for Heat Treating Excellence (CHTE CHTE Center for Heat Treating Excellence (WPI Metal Processing Institute, Worcester, MA) ) in September.

The CHTE is the fourth consortium to be established at MPI, including the Aluminum Casting Research Laboratory, the Powder Metallurgy Re-search Center and the Semi-Solid Materials Processing Laboratory.

The center was established to address the scientific and engineering issues facing the heat-treating industry. ASM's Heat Treating Society and the Metal Treating Institute are founding members of the CHTE, along with a group of corporations.
