WPC Concludes Deliberations, Adopts Two Resolutions Supporting Syria, the Palestinian People.

Damascus, (SANA)-The World Peace Council demanded Saturday full Israeli pullout from the occupied Syrian Golan and the occupied Palestinian territories to the June 4, 1967, line. It also called for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, the return of Palestinian refugees to their homeland and the Israeli withdrawal from the Lebanese territories still under occupation in Shabaa Farms and Kfarshouba Hills. In two resolutions supporting Syria and the Palestinian people issued during meetings of its executive committee in Damascus, the WPC reiterated call on pro-peace movements around the world to boost solidarity and concert efforts to support the cause of restoring Golan to its mother land, Syria.It also voiced appreciation of Syria's steadfastness and vital role in resisting occupation.The Council stressed the right of the Palestinian people to use every type of resistance to restore usurped rights.It also condemned the Israeli aggressive and expansionist measures embodied by the Israeli occupation of Golan, establishing settlements on it and stealing its treasures and attempts to judiaize it.The WPC considered the Israeli practices in the occupied Syrian Golan a blatant violation of international resolutions that consider these practices as "null and void." It urged all pro-peace movements, civil organizations and human rights groups to work in order to prosecute the Israeli war criminals for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed against the Palestinian people. The draft final statement of WPC, demanded unconditional withdrawal of Israel form all the occupied Arab lands in Palestine, Golan and Lebanese Shebaa Farms, stressing complete solidarity with Palestinian People's struggle for establishing their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. Concluding a two-day meeting , the WPC assured people's right to resist occupation, self-determination freely and democratically and to reject threats and external interventions in the states affairs under any pretext. It also renewed the call for ending occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan. Later, in a statement to SANA reporter, David McQueen from Canadian Peace Council said: " Israel is a racial entity. It commits war crimes and violates human rights in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Israeli crimes surpassed former apartheid-era in South Africa." " Holding this meeting in the Middle East, especially in Syria, is a clear evidence on solidarity with peoples of the region and their right to restore their occupied lands and resist the occupation." Head of German Peace Council Barbel Schindler said. For his part, Mr. Gustavo Carino from the Portuguese Cooperation and Peace Council pointed out that what Israel is doing is more than a war crime in addition to the fact that the occupation itself is considered as a crime and an aggression. "The meeting gains a special importance being held in Syria which has a pioneer role in defending national liberation issues in the region." Jordanian Secretary of Peace Council Emily Naffaa said. Mazen Hotait, Member of the Lebanese Peace Commission indicated that the broad participation in the meeting stresses support to Syria's position and its firm principles in defending the region's just causes.
