U.S. Soccer officials called a report in an English newspaper claiming the Americans have made preliminary contact with Germany coach Juergen Klinsmann fiction, saying they aren't in the market for a newcoach.

The London-based Daily Telegraph, citing a ``senior American federation source,'' reported Tuesday that U.S. Soccer would offer Klinsmann nearly $2.8 million a year to guide the national team through the 2010 World Cup in South Africa South Africa, Afrikaans Suid-Afrika, officially Republic of South Africa, republic (2005 est. pop. 44,344,000), 471,442 sq mi (1,221,037 sq km), S Africa. .
