WORKSHOP ON COLLEGE FUNDS AVC TO HOST FUNDING WORKSHOP.

LANCASTER - Students and parents can learn about various sources of money for college when Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA. It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties.  hosts Cash for College on Feb. 3 at the campus, 3041 W. Ave. K.

People are invited to attend either of two free series of workshops, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Guests should follow signs to the Library Plaza, where they will be directed to their choice of workshops. No advance registration is required.

The event is suited to anyone planning to attend a college or university, college officials said.

 to present the workshops, which are designed to help people understand the processes for scholarships, grants and loans.

Assistance will be provided in money management and college savings plans.

Several participating vendors will also award scholarships to some attending the event.

Workshops will be offered simultaneously throughout the day to enable individuals to attend several sessions on different topics.

Each session is 40 minutes.

Topics include:

--Understanding how to get all the money you can: an overview.

--How to fill out your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA FAFSA Free Application for Federal Student Aid (US Department of Education) ).

--Cal Grant at the community college and beyond.

--Scholarships - finding the free money.

--Loans, loans and more loans - Understanding the ins and outs ins and outs

--Money management: how to stay out of debt.

--College savings plans.
