WORKFORCE REDUCTION CONFIRMED

ROSEMEAD, Calif., July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Southern California Edison confirmed today that it is in the process of reducing its work force by the equivalent of 400 full-time employees in 1993.
Edison plans to reduce its 17,000-employee work force primarily through attrition. Involuntary staff separations will be used as a last resort, although the Southland utility is not planning any across-the- board reductions.
Edison announced its reduction plans to its employees last December as part of an overall strategic plan to maintain its competitive position.
