While Lancaster's Parks, Recreation and Arts Department offers these programs, it has also launched a series of professional-development workshops designed to help people excel in their personal and professional lives.

Summer class offerings include Communication in the Workplace, Effective Public Speaking, Your Perfect Image and an Entrepreneur entrepreneur (än'trəprənûr`) [Fr.,=one who undertakes], person who assumes the organization, management, and risks of a business enterprise.  Training Program.

Each seminar focuses on specific professional skills, and how students can enhance these skills to get ahead in their careers, city officials said.

Effective Public Speaking will be held Mondays, beginning July 10, from 6:15 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. It teaches students how to develop effective and entertaining presentations, and overcome public-speaking fears. The instructor is world-champion Toastmaster toast·mas·ter
